PS: Ah, I am a flawed human, no surprise. Our Armed Forces Veterans, through sleights of commission and omission, perhaps suffer most from abandonment. All these useless wars? They are run for the benefit of general staff officers, who don’t get promoted unless they suffer some form of combat, and ‘defense’ contractors, no matter how offensive the epithet ‘defense’ may be in this context. So, we have a long way to go, here in the good ole USA, before we can actually live up to our press releases and Constitution. Just sayin. Apple pie good. Hypocrisy bad.

Abandoning those who have helped us has been a tradition of the good ole USA since WWII. The Jews, whom we promised a homeland. The Koreans, to whom we offered protection, as well as the Chinese under Sun Yat Sen. The South Vietnamese and Hmong. The Contras. The people of Chile, Somalia, Libya, Syria, et al. The Kurds. What? You mean they haven’t had newspapers in Afghanistan for the past 80 years or so? Oh, sorry. Too soon? But, how else did we earn the BHN (Biggest Hypocrite Nation) title? Swamp, sewer, whatever, I can smell it from here…

Q: In the USA, are there any nail and screw manufacturers left? Are there any American made fasteners to hold American homes together? If the Chinese quit shipping these and other goods to us, how long would it take to spool up alternative supplies? Let’s not find out as a default option, and let’s not let the search for cheap labor sink our democracy. We need to make our own chips, et al. We need apprenticeship programs, and a huge physical and social infrastructure infusion. There are logical paths forward. Fuck the Repubes and all their malodorous smoke. Grind them under.
